Shown is a false colored confocal image of a fly brain that is highlighting olfactory projection neurons. Projection neurons carry odorant information from the antennal lobes (two circles in center) into the fly’s primary olfactory cortex (lateral horn) to regulate the sense of smell. The axon tracts of the projection neurons are visible as red outlines.
